The owner of TopShop has joined other retailers including Primark and H&M in signing up to a deal on better safety checks in Bangladesh aimed at preventing any repeats of the building collapse that left more than 1,000 workers dead.

Owner of collapsed building in Dhaka 'still on the run'

Police in Bangladesh say they have arrested several relatives of the owner of the eight-storey which collapsed in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday.

It's understood that officers believe their arrest will help them find the owner of building who has "gone on the run".

Major transport links like airports have been alerted to his disappearance and border officials are mounting extra searches to locate him.

Officials say the building on Rana Plaza was not built with the correct permits and that workers were ordered into the structure despite visible cracks appearing in the façade.

A police spokesperson said as many as 900 people could still be missing.
