The owner of a fertiliser plant that exploded last week killing 14 people and destroying dozens of homes and an apartment complex in a tiny Texas town is being sued by a single mom and by several insurance companies.

Hospital official: Patients wounded by flying debris

The head of a hospital in nearby Waco has said that 94 people injured in the explosion have been treated so far and that most were wounded by flying debris.

Glenn Robinson, CEO of Hillcrest Medical Centre, told CNN that at least 19 patients would remain in hospital for the coming days at least.

He added that he has not witnessed any injuries related to chemical burns or the breathing of fumes.
