The Ecuadorean government are reported to have held talks with the Labour Party over the situation of Julian Assange, believing the 2015 election bring a breakthrough.

Ecuadorean diplomats are attempting to strike a deal which would see Assange sent to Sweden, where he faces rape charges, after the election.

They hope Labour will offer assurances that Assange will not be onward-extradited from Sweden to the US, according to the Independent.
