Mick Philpott's former mistress Lisa Willis has told Nottingham Crown Court she met him when she was 17, a year after giving birth to her son Jordan.
Ms Willis, now 29, said Mick Philpott, who was then in his 40s, had invited her to a New Year's Eve party at his house after her sister introduced them in the street.
She said they got alright and said he contacted her next day. She said she also met his wife Mairead Philpott at the party.
Ms Willis told the court she had moved into local authority accommodation after her son was born to father Graham Bettridge. She had lost both her parents at an early age.
Her father died when she was five and her mother passed away when she was 12.
