Clegg to promise for higher taxes in by-election speech
The Deputy Prime Minister will promise to press for higher taxes on the wealthy in his speech marking the Liberal Democrats' Eastleigh by-election campaign.
Nick Clegg wis expected to say that the Lib Dems will press for the introduction of new council tax bands at the top end, to ease the burden on "hard-working families".
Polling will take place on February 28th for the Eastleigh seat, following the resignation of Chris Huhne, after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice over claims his ex-wife Vicky Pryce took speeding points for him a decade ago.
The Lib Dems will select their candidate at a private hustings on Saturday.
