News Corporation information leads to arrest
Today's Operation Elveden arrest was made as a result of information passed to police by News Corporation's management standards committee (MSC).
The MSC was established to look into phone hacking, payments to police and related matters at News International publications.
Its information has provided the basis for numerous arrests by police working on Operation Elveden.
A section on News Corporation's website explains the committee's governance:
"The MSC is autonomous from News International. It works to ensure co-operation with all investigations into these issues, including Lord Justice Leveson's public inquiry, the police inquiries, civil proceedings, Parliamentary hearings and the review by the Press Complaints Commission."
