Study: Extreme rainfall in the UK may be increasing

The occurrence of extreme rainfall in the UK may be on the rise, according to analysis by the Met Office.

Figures show that days of very heavy rainfall have become more frequent since 1960.

The study into extreme rain is based on statistics from the National Climate Information Centre.

The Met Office will today reveal whether 2012 was the wettest year on record in the UK.
