It's emerged that three pensioners needed treatment in hospital after their car was swept 500 metres down a swollen river in Warwickshire yesterday.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said that a local farmer was able to pull the silver Corsa to the water's edge after the driver got into difficulty while trying to cross a ford near Coughton in Alcester yesterday morning.

Firefighters in rescue boats were then able to pull the two women and a man from the car.
