Sally Bercow, wife of Commons Speaker John Bercow, has continued to tweet about reports she is receive a letter from Lord McAlpine's legal team.
She maintains her post was "not a libellous tweet":

The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
