BBC confirms George Entwistle pay-off of £450k

The BBC confirms that under contractual entitlement for resignations, George Entwistle was entitled to six months pay. But if the BBC had asked him to go, he was entitled to12 months.

Because this was a "consensual agreement" the BBC agreed to pay 12 months - stressing this was not a dismissal. Mr Entwistle will continue to give support to the two Savile inquiries.
