Sir Alex's 26th anniversary gift - a statue of himself
A statue of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is to be unveiled at Old Trafford later this month, the club has announced.
Ferguson, who was appointed United boss 26 years ago today, will be honoured with the work by sculptor Philip Jackson, to be revealed on Friday, November 23.
A statement on the United website read: "It will be placed in a prominent position near the entrance to the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, which was renamed in his honour last year.
"The club will also be unveiling new artwork and installations in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand concourses which will illustrate the manager’s achievements throughout his United career."
The unveiling will take place the day before United’s home match against Queens Park Rangers.
Ferguson, the most successful British manager of all time, has won two European Cups, 12 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and the European Cup-Winners' Cup during his time at the club.
