The rebel Free Syrian Army claimed responsibility for twin bombings on Wednesday thattargeted one of Syria's top military command buildings in the capital Damascus.
In a statement, the information office for the FSA military council said:
"The Free Army hit the General Staff building in Damascus' Umayyad Square and dozens were killed in the two powerful blasts".
Syria's Information Minister Omran Zoabi had earlier said that the blasts caused only material damage.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
