Russia warns fans over conduct

The Russian Football Union has called for fan unity following the news that UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Russia over the behaviour of their supporters during their European 2012 victory over Czech Republic on Friday.

David Davies: Minister's moral decision is 'difficult to understand'

David Davies, former executive director of the FA has said on ITV's Daybreak that he finds the stance taken by ministers, of not visiting Ukraine during Euro 2012 over concerns over opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, a 'surprise'.

He said: "It's difficult for me to see how you can take a moral stand on the group matches and not take the same moral stand as the tournament reaches its climax."

"You have to deal with each situation as it arises. Ukraine is and has been a difficult country, having said that UEFA as well as other sporting bodies have taken a view that we have to take these major sporting events to new frontiers."
