Body found in street in Crook, County Durham

A man's body has been found in a street in County Durham.

The discovery was made by a woman on Flanders Way, Crook, on Sunday morning.

Crook CID, who are leading the investigation, said the death was being treated as "unexplained".

They have cordoned off Flanders Way, where the body was found on Sunday morning, and a white tent has been erected.

The man is believed to have been in his 30's or 40's.

"At around 6.50am today a woman discovered a man in Flanders Way, Crook. She called emergency services and both police and paramedics attended. Sadly, the man, who we belive to be in his 30s or 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A Home Office post mortem is due to be carried out later today and we are currently treating this death as unexplained. Formal identification of the man has not yet been carried out. We would appeal for anyone who may have any information which could help us with this investigation to contact police on 101.
