Police identify body found in York river

Police have identified a man whose body was found in the River Ouse, York, on New Year's Day.

Craig Darren Batters, 42, was from York.

At 1.30pm on Sunday 1 January 2017, police were called by a member of the public reporting that they had seen a body in the river near Holly Terrace, opposite Rowntree Park.

Police are now appealing for information to help them trace the movements of Mr Batters in the hours leading up to his death.
