Cyclist dies in hospital after Newcastle collision
A cyclist has died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Newcastle last night.
It happened on Great North Road near the Blue House roundabout at around 9:33pm. The rider, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries after colliding with a Ford Fiesta.
He was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria infirmary but died earlier today.
The road was closed for more than four hours as police carried out investigations into the cause of the crash.
Any witnesses are being asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101.
