Last council owned leisure centre handed to private ownership

The last council owned leisure centres in Newcastle have been handed to private ownership.

They will be run by North Country Lesiure in a move that will help the council raise more than £14 million pounds.

Elswick Pool received no offers, forcing the centre to close. The council says it's working to find a positive outcome for the pool.
