The Environment Agency has issued two severe flood warnings for the River Tyne at Corbridge. It says flooding is expected and residents in the area are being told to take immediate action.
Newcastle Central Mosque and Islamic Centre was swaying dangerously in high winds last night.
Part of the roof at the centre on Elswick Road has already been damaged, with fears the minaret and dome of the large mosque could be further destroyed by gale force winds.
