Two severe flood warnings in place for the River Tyne at Corbridge

The Environment Agency has issued two severe flood warnings for the River Tyne at Corbridge. It says flooding is expected and residents in the area are being told to take immediate action.

Second severe flood warning for the River Tyne in Corbridge

The Environment Agency have issued a severe flood warning for properties and low lying areas around Wellbank and St. Andrews Terrace.

The warning means that flooding of homes and businesses is expected.

The official advice from the environment agency is to act now to protect yourself and your property.

Flooding is expected for Properties and low lying areas around Wellbank, St Andrew’s Terrace, Station Road, Little Croft and The Stanners, Cemetery Lodge, Corbridge Mill and The Willows.

The environment agency also advise that:

If you are caught in a flash flood, get to higher ground.

Stay away from flood water and don't take risks. Move family, pets and valuables to a safe place.

Heavy rain is currently falling in the Tyne Catchment and will continue throughout today.

River levels on the River Tyne are rising and are expected to rise through the day.

Properties at Well Bank are already flooding and it is expected that the flood wall at the Stanners will top over later this morning.
