Ian Lavery to support Andy Burnham as Labour leader

The Labour MP for Wansbeck Ian Lavery has confirmed that he will support Andy Burnham for the party leadership.

Ian Lavery was reportedly considering standing himself. He says he received many requests to do so, from all over the country. He added that the support for a working-class MP becoming the party leader is overwhelming.

The former Health Secretary Andy Burnham will be up against a number of candidates including, so far: Chuka Umunna, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.
