Veteran Tyne Tees presenter Tom Coyne dies aged 84

Tom Coyne, who presented the very first news bulletin on Tyne Tees Television in 1959, has died at the age of 84.

Born in South Shields, Tom was also the first presenter of Top Gear, and made regular appearances on Nationwide and Songs of Praise.

He died after a long illness shortly before his 85th birthday.
