Newcastle's Bigg Market: What you think of it

The Bigg Market in Newcastle is to be redeveloped with money from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

NE1 Ltd has received just over £200,000 to help draw up development plans to reinvigorate the area. It can then apply for a full grant early next year. The Heritage Lottery Fund has earmarked £1.65m for the project which will be worth £2.9m with match funding.

The Bigg Market is at the historic heart of the city with 31 listed buildings and an ancient market area. It's in close proximity to other historic city landmarks including St Nicholas’ Cathedral, the Castle Keep and the Central Station.

But for many it is known mainly for its bars and clubs and late night drinking. We went out to get a sample of views. Click below to see them.
