Man's body found on Sunderland riverbank

A body has been found on the bank of the River Wear in Sunderland.

Police were called to the south bank of the river near St Luke's Road just after 11am today. Officers attended the scene and recovered the man's body. The police are currently trying to identify him.

At 11.03am this morning police received a report from a member of the public that a man's body had been found on the banks of the River Wear in St Luke's Road in Sunderland. Officers attended and the body was recovered."
