Northumberland shipwreck granted protected status
A shipwreck found on the Northumberland coast has been granted protected status by English Heritage. The wreck is close to Bamburgh Castle and was discovered last summer. It had lay beneath the sand for hundreds of years and is still only visible at low tide.
Archeologists believe it dates back to the 18th century and was a British vessel. It's now been designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument, which means it's an offence to damage the remains.
