A major exhibition has begun of the works of Hartlepool born artist Maurice Cockrill, who died last month.

Described as a "painter's painter" he had an international reputation and was also a well respected teacher. The exhibition, which had been planned before his death, shows his changing style over the years. It's on at the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery until the 30th of March.
