Residents in Felling, Gateshead, say not enough is being done to protect them from floods.

Many people are still living in houses with damp flooring, and wet sofas after being hit for a second time on Sunday.

They have complained that there are not enough drains in the area to protect them.

Northumbrian Water are yet to comment.

Floods latest

Street cleaners and water pumps are out across the region after more than 100 homes were flooded yesterday during a thunder storm. In Jedburgh a river burst its banks and on Tyneside some people were left stranded in their homes.

Flooding hits Tyne and Wear: update

Police are continuing to work with partners following heavy rainfall yesterday.

Various areas throughout the region were affected - mainly in South Tyneside and Gateshead - and there is disruption to roads and transport.

The Swing Bridge remains closed due to debris caused by the flooding. It currently remains closed and anyone travelling on the road is advised to find an alternative route.

All other roads have been reopened.

"There have been a number of disruptions around the force after a downfall of rain...we have been working with our partners to monitor the situation and ensure there is as minimal disruption to people as possible."
