Three men from the North East chosen for ITV 'Superstar' show

Three men from the North East have made the finals of ITV's talent show 'Superstar'. The show is looking for a man to play the leading role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Jesus Christ Superstar' stage play.

Afnan Iftikhar: the model from North Shields

Afnan Iftikhar is one of three people from the North East who has made it into the live finals of ITV's 'Superstar' show. Superstar follows Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a leading male for 'Jesus Christ Superstar' on the West End.

Afnan taught himself to play the guitar and drums and joined another band called Back Seat Angel. He was influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Audioslave and Muse. It wasn't until university that he discovered musical theatre.

Jon Moses: the singer from Newcastle

Jon Moses is one of three people from the North East who has made it into the live finals of ITV's 'Superstar' show. Superstar follows Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a leading male for 'Jesus Christ Superstar' on the West End.

Jon Moses said that he spends all the time he can singing in the shower or performing in amateur shows. He went on to become a cabaret singer and sung in holiday parks across the UK. He's had various jobs in telesales, but still wants to be a star.

Ben Forster: the performer from Sunderland

Ben Forster is one of three people from the North East who has made it into the live finals of ITV's 'Superstar' show. Superstar follows Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a leading male for 'Jesus Christ Superstar' on the West End.

Background

Ben was in the National Youth Theatre, Italia Conti Stage School and then went on to perform in Le Cava. He also played Doody in Grease. In 2009 he made it through to the boot camp in the X-Factor.
