Is Nutmeg from Blaydon the oldest cat in the world?

Nutmeg arrived at the Blaydon home of Ian and Liz Finlay in 1990 as a stray and has been living the life of Riley ever since.

His owners put his longevity down to a diet of tuna, turkey and cream.

This Christmas will be his 31st, making him 141 in cat years.

Because Nutmeg is a stray, his exact date of birth cannot be verified - so the Guinness Book of World Records wouldn't recognise his claim.

None the less, to Ian and Liz, he's the world's greatest OAP - old age pussycat.
