Steve McClaren expected to be confirmed as new Newcastle boss
Steve McClaren is expected to be announced as the head coach of Newcastle United shortly.
Several newspapers are reporting that a statement from the club could be imminent.
The former England will be familiar to people in the North East because of his five his spell at the helm of Middlesbrough, which ended in 2006. During that time, he won the League Cup with Boro and took them to the UEFA Cup final.
He also had a spell as a manager of England but he failed to qualify for Euro 2008. It was the first time in 14 years that the national side had qualified for a major tournament.
Most recently, Steve McClaren was sacked as the boss of Derby after they did not reach the Championship play-off places.
