Plans underway to make Sunderland next UK City of Culture
City leaders are expected to approve plans that could make Sunderland the UK City of Culture in 2021.
The plans could bring millions to the local economy and attract investment to the arts.
The Government-run UK City of Culture programme runs every four years. The first city to win the status was Derry-Londonderry in 2013 and Hull will take on the mantle in 2017.
Members of the Sunderland Cultural Partnership Leadership Group have visited Hull to look at how the status has helped tourism and culture in the city.
