Man charged with murder in Darlington

A man has appeared in court charged with murder.

61-year-old Joseph Turner appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and the case was sent to Teesside Crown Court.

Pamela Glen, also known as Turner, was found with stab wounds at her flat on Friday in Springhill.

She received first aid at the scene after officers were called at 11.30pm, but died at Middlesbrough's James Cook Memorial Hospital.

Durham Police said 61-year-old Ms Turner, had two grown-up daughters and lived alone in the flat.
