CCTV footage has emerged which shows the moment two gunmen opened fire at an open-air market in central Tel Aviv on Wednesday, killing four people and wounding at least six others.

Panicked diners are seen running away to escape gunfire. Some of the footage is blurred due to the distressing scenes.

Four people killed after a pair of gunmen opened fire at a popular market in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night have been identified by Israeli police.

According to CNN, the victims were two men Michael Faiga, 58 and Idan Ben Arieh, 42, and two women Ilana Naveh, 39, and 32-year-old Mila Meshayev.

In the wake of the attack, Israel has suspended entry permits for more than 80,000 Palestinians, citing security reasons.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack at an open-air market on Wednesday but the gunmen are believed to be Palestinian.

Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups have praised the attack.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has visited the scene and described the attacks as "cold-blooded murder".

He also said the government would "take the necessary steps to attack the attackers and to defend those who need to be defended".

A hospital spokesman has confirmed that four people have died in the shooting attack in Tel Aviv.

Gil Fire, the deputy director of the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centre, said ten people were taken to the centre for treatment.

Four people have "moderate to severe wounds" but are in a stable condition while two more are "in decent condition".

Initial reports showed there were at least two gunmen in the Tel Aviv shooting attacks, an Israeli police spokeswoman has said.

Meirav Lapidot said both were "neutralised", which can mean either killed or detained.

Another spokeswoman Luba Samri said there were reports of shooting in two locations close to the popular open-air Sharona market.

One of the attackers is being treated in hospital, she added.

Israel has been struggling to cope with eight months of Palestinian attacks that have killed 28 Israelis and two Americans.

About 200 Palestinians have been killed during that time, most identified as attackers by Israel.

Jerusalem resident Avraham Liber said it looked like one of the gunmen was sitting down at a cafe.

He said the shooter got up and started firing at point blank range at people sitting down.

Meital Sassi told Channel 10 TV she was out with her family celebrating her son's birthday when she heard shots and "immediately understood it was a terror attack".

"We ran like lightning with the baby and the stroller ... I yelled at people who didn't understand what was happening to run," she said.

Police are searching the area to make sure there are no other attackers or possible bombs.
