RMT to consult on revised offer from Network Rail

The RMT union has called off a potential strike and will discuss the details of a new revised package.

The new offer from Network Rail which has led to the cancellation of planned strikes involves a 2% pay rise this year, RPI next year, a job security package and efficiency savings, according to sources.

Following extensive Acas talks throughout the weekend RMT has now received a revised offer that enables us to suspend the planned industrial action while we consult in full on the details of the revised package with our Network Rail representatives.

Talks to avoid this week's planned rail strike ongoing

Talks between rail bosses and RMT members to avoid a potential strike this week have resumed this morning.

Members of the union are threatening a 24-hour from 5pm this Thursday and 48 hours the following week after a new pay deal was rejected.

It comes after a 24-hour strike over the May Bank Holiday weekend was called off at the final hour by rail union the TSSA after a pay deal was struck.

Mick Cash, general secretary of the RMT said it is "fully committed to achieving a negotiated settlement and will be available in London for discussions for the whole weekend and beyond in order to achieve a settlement."
