Parade for Warminster soldiers

250 soldiers from 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment have paraded through Warminster ahead of their nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. Five soldiers from the same Battalion were killed in an explosion in the south of the country ten days ago.

Warminster silent to see off soldiers

The town of Warminster came to a halt today to pay their respects to six British soldiers killed in an explosion in Afghanistan last week and to see off their comrades who are about to deploy to the warzone.

Hundreds of people waving Union flags lined the streets as 400 soldiers from the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment marched through the Wiltshire town, with the Duke of York, colonel-in-chief of the Yorkshire Regiment, taking the salute.

The soldiers of 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, who are departing for a nine-month tour in Afghanistan, are marching through the town of Warminster, before attending a service in the Minster Church.

Five of the six soldiers who died in a blast in Helmand province in Afghanistan were from the 3 Yorks battalion.

250 soldiers from 3rd battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment will parade through Warminster, Wiltshire today ahead of their deplyoment in Afghanistan. Many of the townspeople are expected to turn out in support.

The same battalion lost five soldiers in Afghanistan earlier this month, including Private Anthony Frampton.
