Aylesbury man jailed for causing death by drug-driving
A man from Buckinghamshire has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to three counts of causing death by driving whilst on drugs.
Omar Shah, 24, from Aylesbury, lost control of his car and collided with a tree. It happened on Cublington Road in Aylesbury Vale, at around 5am on 8th August 2017.
As a result of the collision, a 21-year-old man from Aylesbury, who was a passenger in the rear of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thames Valley Police said Shah originally claimed that another man had been driving the car and had fled the scene. An extensive search of the area involving significant police resources, proved this to be untrue.
Blood samples found Shah had three drugs in his system, including cocaine and cannabis.
Shah was originally charged in June with three counts of driving without due care and attention whilst over the specified drug limit. He has also been disqualified from driving for seven and a half years.
