Wightlink suspends Yarmouth service after fire on ferry
An investigation is underway after a fire broke out on a Wightlink ferry sailing between Lymington and Yarmouth last night.
The alert to the fire beneath the car deck was raised as the ship on the 9pm crossing approached the Isle of Wight. The emergency services were called to the scene when the ferry arrived at Yarmouth.
One crew member who was taken to hospital in newport has been discharged. All the passengers got off the ferry safely with their vehicles.
Wightlink say that the Marine Accident Investigation Branch have been informed. Sailings on the Lymington to Yarmouth route have been transferred to the Portsmouth to Fishbourne service. Check the Wightlink website for more information.
