Plans for a £50 million research laboratory at the University of Reading have been approved. The four story building will house purpose built research facilities for the biology department and labs for 280 students, making it one of the largest teaching facilities in the UK. It will be constructed at the University's Whiteknights Campus and should be completed by 2019.

Professor Steve Mithen, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said: "This is just one of several multi-million pound investments within our current building programme designed to sustain, and further enhance, Reading's status as a world leading teaching and research intensive university."
