Respect the water Credit: Lulworth Rangers

Lulworth Rangers have uploaded video footage of a couple narrowly escaping the water at Durdle Door.

The footage; taken Friday when winds of up to 70mph battered Dorset, shows the couple taking pictures as the waves crash on the beach.

In an instant the water is closer than they imagined - they were lucky to escape.

The Lulworth Rangers work at the cove in environmental land management, education and visitor enjoyment and urge people to respect the water.

"It can only take a second of taking your eye off the ball and things can go wrong, very quickly. If you plan on visiting the coast during this rough weather, please don't get too close to the sea. The sea is unpredictable, rogue waves do happen and a few centimetres of fast flowing water can take you off your feet."
