Several people have been injured after a multi-vehicle accident on the A420 in Oxfordshire.

Fire Appliances from Faringdon and Wantage supported by Stratton St Margret (Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service) attended the scene along with the Specialist Rescue Team from Kidlington.

On arrival crews were met with a scene of major destruction. Two large goods vehicles together with three cars had been involved in the collision, with injured people trapped within two of the vehicles. The accident scene was spread across the whole road closing the A420 in both directions.

Crews together with staff from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) assessed the injuries of those involved and began work to remove the casualties from the vehicles.

SCAS were supported medics from the Helicopter Emergency Service (HEMS) who assessed, treated and transported the casualties to hospital.
