Cyclist killed in hit and run in New Forest named by police

A cyclist who died last Wednesday following a hit and run in Fordingbridge has been named by police.

He was 70-year-old Richard White of Downton in Salisbury.

The crash took place on the A338 Salisbury Road at 9.20am on April 28th, and involved the cyclist and what is believed to be a white Ford Transit flatbed vehicle, with the registration BU53 FVM.

Mr White suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital. He was being treated there but died of his injuries.

Detectives are still appealing for information to help trace the vehicle involved, which failed to stop at the scene.
