She was one of the first celebrity chefs, famed for championing the pressure cooker and recipes for Spam. Tonight, tributes are being paid to Marguerite Patten, who's died at the age of 99.
Mrs Patten, who lived in Brighton for many years, was a pioneering cookery writer and broadcaster. And she inspired many of today's TV chefs including Jamie Oliver and Nigel Slater. Malcolm Shaw looks back at her life
