Thousands used Southampton Airport this August

Southampton Airport has had 200,000 passengers using the airport in August this year, which is an increase of 11% on August 2012.

The most popular destinations people travelled to were European countries, with flights to Malaga, Faro and Verona being popular.

Flights to Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney in the Channel Islands were also very popular.

Dave Lees, Managing Director said, "There are a number of reasons for this strong growth in August.

"These include extra flights being provided by Flybe, a range of competitive ticket prices and growing confidence in the economy.

"We are looking forward to a busy winter season at Southampton Airport with our largest ever ski season starting here in December."
