Several petitions have been raised, calling for a review of the sentencing of four teenagers after they tortured Chunky the dog.

Louise Oldfield from Margate has started one of the petitions. It calls for an 'urgent review of the sentences'.

Four teenagers were banned from keeping animals for five years after they stole and tortured Chunky. The case has been described as one of the most disturbing cases RSPCA inspectors have ever seen.

The thugs broke his leg and neck, set him on fire and fed him drugs before dumping him at a rubbish tip in Manston Road, Margate.

The various petitions call for life bans for anyone abusing animals.

Tender, loving care for Chunky after torture ordeal

A pet dog that was tortured and left for dead is now back home with its family after making a remarkable recovery. Chunky was taken from his garden in Margate and subjected to a terrifying ordeal.

The RSPCA called it one of the most disturbing cases of animal cruelty they'd ever seen. Chunky needed specialist treatment which took weeks to complete. Four teenagers have appeared in court over the attack. Tom Savvides has this report.

Four teenagers were disqualified from keeping animals after torturing a stolen dog in a case the RSPCA described as one of the worst they have ever seen.

Three of the teenagers, aged 15 and 16, admitted kicking and punching the chihuahua cross, named Chunky, before breaking his leg and neck.

They then set him on fire, fed him drugs and dumped him in a rubbish tip in Margate.

Despite his ordeal the dog survived and has now been returned to his owners.

The age of the teenagers means that they cannot be identified.
