Calls for safety review after level crossing crash
Safety at level crossings is under the spotlight after a car was hit by a train in Oxfordshire last night. Emergency services were called to Sandy Lane in Yarnton . The woman who's in her forties and from Banbury, was cut free from the vehicle. Penny Silvester reports.
Woman detained after crossing crash
A woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act after a car was hit by a train on a level crossing in Oxfordshire. The British Transport Police released the following statement a short time ago:
The train involved in the incident, the 2.45pm Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly Cross Country service, remained upright and on the tracks and there were no reported injuries to the 100 passengers onboard.
The Rail Accident Investigation Branch and Office of Rail Regulation have been informed.
British Transport Police officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and would urge anyone with information to contact them on 0800 40 50 40** **quoting incident number 407 of 12/11/2013.

Car hit by train in Yarnton - latest
A car has been hit by a train in Yarnton, Oxfordshire.
The incident happened at around 16:45 today on Sandy Lane.
The woman inside the vehicle received non-life threatening injuries. The fire service were in attendance as she was trapped in the car.

There is disruption on First Great Western between Reading and Banbury as a vehicle has been hit by a train.
Trains are currently unable to run between Oxford and Banbury so buses are being arranged to replace the trains.
There is no estimate for a normal service.
This is also affecting Cross Country trains too.
