Roads closed as city centre bookstore on fire

A fire has broken out at a bookstore in Southampton city centre.

The Waterstones shop along Above Bar Street caught fire earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to tackle the blaze and police have closed the nearby roads.

Around 30 firefighters are on the scene battling the blaze at the ground floor.

Many people posted photos on social media of smoke spreading across what is usually a busy shopping street.
