Investigation launched after man drowns in River Medway

Police in Kent are appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in Maidstone.

Officers attended St Peter Street at 11.39am on Friday 1 December following a report that a man had fallen into the River Medway.

Kent Fire and Rescue and the South East Coast Ambulance Services also attended the area.

The man, aged 50, was taken to a hospital in London via air ambulance where he was later pronounced dead. His next of kin are aware.

The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
