Quadruple amputee training for South African kayak
Four years ago he was close to death, all four limbs amputated, after what he thought was a common cold turned out to be the devastating infection Strep A Toxic Shock Syndrome. Now Alex Lewis, from Stockbridge in Hampshire, is preparing to kayak 300 kilometres along the Orange River in South Africa. It's the latest in a series of adventures made possible by a charity which helps severely injured soldiers rebuild their lives. Kerry Swain reports.
