A hospital mix up led to a 99-year-old great-grandmother being told she was pregnant.

Doris Ayling, who turns 100 in November, was shocked to receive a letter asking her to attend the maternity antenatal department at Fareham Community Hospital in Hampshire for an appointment.

The letter included Mrs Ayling's correct date of birth and patient number.

Mrs Ayling, who lives in Bognor Regis, has three children, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust has apologised and said the mix up was due to an ‘administrative error’.
