The Bishop of Dover, the Right Reverend Trevor Willmott, has announced that he will chair a hustings in South Thanet where the Ukip leader, Nigel Farage is standing.

The event will be organised by local Anglican churches on April 24. Candidates from the main seven political parties have been invited to attend.

It follows a pastoral letter issued nationally by the Bishops of the Church of England in which they call on political parties to discern "a fresh moral vision of the kind of country we want to be", ahead of the General Election in May.

The Pub Landlord, the alter ego of comedian Al Murray, has also announced that he will be standing for election in the constituency.
