Sparks fly as bomb is detonated
A bomb has been detonated in a controlled explosion in Sussex. A Royal Navy bomb disposal squad was called to the site at Littlehampton East Beach when the phosphorous shell was discovered yesterday.
A section of the beach was cordoned off at around 2pm. It's believed the explosive has been a primer used in an anti-submarine mine during the Second World War.
The beach has now been reopened to the public.
